first post

I'm in Vermont. yey! the second greatly appreciated reprieve from reality. it's been a crazy year, though none have been dull. we arrived here at about 3:30 pm. it's so different from Florida. unless you've traveled to New England, it's hard to describe. it's unspoiled. driving down the roads, the scents of hay, clover, and the occasional skunk creep in. even the clouds are different; they have more depth. it's not cold here, just chilly. it's that annoying cold that creeps under your skin and can't escape.

No sooner had we arrived, did my brothers want to go swimming. so my dad took them. they came back resembling icicles. Kim and i unpacked and started to take inventory on what was needed for the rest of the week. whoohoo!! tomorrow is the big-fun-grocery-shop-day! we also get to visit this tiny bookshop we found last year. we don't know who owns it, because there is never anyone there. it's completely based on the honor system. you write your own receipts and leave the money in a tray. makes you wonder how many people just leave with the books and don't pay. last year i bought this set of 8 poetry books for $30. all of which are about 100 years old...they're amazing. it's similar to Haslem's in St. Pete. ok, enough rambling for now.

good night

Courtney
